HIV / AIDS Statistics among Males in the United States

AIDS is the LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH among men aged 25 to 44

Among male adults/adolescents reported with AIDS in 1995, male-to-male sexual contact accounted for the largest proportion of cases, (51%), followed by intravenous drug use, (24%).

Among men ages 20 to 24, male-to-male sexual contact and/or injecting drug use accounted for 76% of AIDS cases and 63% of HIV infection cases reported in 1995

Heterosexual contact accounted for only 5% of reported AIDS cases among male adults/adolescents in 1995.
